Police searching for man who made veiled threat at NIC | News

Coeur d'Alene Police are searching for a North Idaho College student who reportedly made a threat to a counselor last Friday.

Patrick Ryan Budig, 33, of Spokane made a veiled threat to a disability counselor, referring to Columbine High School in his comments regarding a disciplinary issue that he was angry about.

Budig was expected to be on campus Monday for a 10 a.m. class, so police and Kootenai County Sheriff's deputies were at North Idaho College covering all the entrances and exits in case he showed up. The campus was never locked down since there were no imminent threat; Budig never showed up for class Monday morning.

He is currently wanted in Washington on an assault with a weapon charge, and his prior arrests for forgery, assault and intimidating a judge.

Coeur d'Alene Police are coordinating their search efforts with the Spokane Police Department.

Budig is described as being Caucasian, 5?11, 180 lbs. with brown hair and blue eyes. He is known to drive a silver 2006 Mini Cooper with Washington plates AET8942 and a maroon 1999 Dodge Dakota with either Washington plates A02456L or B15094V.
