A prescribed burn produced clouds of concerning smoke near Pappy Boyington Field on Tuesday afternoon. Kootenai County Fire and Rescue say the brush fire was planned for about 200 acres of land near the airport.
Prescribed burns are a form of fire-risk reduction and can improve the land for wildlife, pest control and access.
