(Updated 4:15 p.m.) - The fire truck hat at Cherry Hill Park is closed temporary after the inner mesh was damaged sometime between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.

The damage was reported Thursday morning when a city parks employee founded the damage. It's estimated damage is listed $2,000.

Though the hat is broken, the remainder of the park is open. No information is known regarding any suspects.

City employees added the mesh was accumulating damage, but the main damage happened during this incident.

The park was originally built in 2006 as a dedication to the police officers and firefighters who died during the 9/11 attacks.

Teens Admit to 90 Car Break-ins

Three teenagers are under arrest for breaking into cars in the Riverstone area of Coeur d'Alene and chucking the stolen goods into the Spokane River. Coeur d'Alene Police arrested a 13, 16 and 17 year old for stealing iPods, computers and cell phones and then tossing them into the river.

They say two of the teens are runaways and that all three were staying in a camp along the river. That's where a transient heard the boys bragging about their crimes and reported them to police.

Police say they've admitted to 90 break-ins in the Riverstone area over the summer. But they say they've only linked them to about 30 and haven't recovered evidence to all of the crimes they've confessed to.

Children will be using crosswalks as they walk to and from school. To help out, Coeur d'Alene Fire Department and the Police Department will be on site to help remind citizens that school is in session.
