Stolen custom truck takes a ride around Coeur d'Alene

AP Wires: A Coeur d'Alene man whose white Cadillac pickup truck with red flames on the hood was stolen over the weekend figured it would be found right away or the thief would be smart enough to get it out of town. Tom Fisher figured wrong.

The Coeur d'Alene Press reports people saw the truck several times over the weekend before Fisher spotted it Monday at a restaurant a few blocks from where it was taken on Saturday.

Fisher said he approached the truck and a man standing nearby took off running, so Fisher used his spare key, hopped in the truck and gave chase. Police apprehended him hiding in a neighborhood yard.

Police Sgt. Christie Wood says they are questioning the man, but do not believe he was the thief.

Man sentenced to prison for failing to register as sex offender

AP Wires: A northern Idaho man has been sentenced to up to six years in prison for failing to register as a sex offender.

The Kootenai County prosecutor's office told the Coeur d'Alene Press that 29-year-old John Rhoden III must serve at least two and a half years of prison before he will be eligible for parole.

First District Judge Fred Gibler also revoked Rhoden's probation for a 2009 burglary conviction, ordering him to serve five years in that case. The burglary sentence won't start until Rhoden completes the fixed portion of his sentence on failing to register as a sex offender.

Rhoden was ordered to register as a sex offender after he was convicted of lewd conduct with a minor in 2001.
