CdA storage units targeted by thieves

Thieves targeted a storage unit business in Coeur d'Alene overnight Tuesday.

Skyview Mini Storage Manager Dee Teeter noticed that eight locks had been tampered with when she showed up to work Jan. 22 at 9 a.m., according to a police report. “She noted some of these units did not appear to have much disturbed while several had been completely ransacked.”

CdA police Sgt. Christie Wood said that a detective has been assigned to the case and that there “is a lead they are working on.”

The police report said that Teeter noticed that the criminals had left some valuables unscathed in the units, while one unit was gone through thoroughly.

The owner of that unit knew there was a “problem with his storage unit even before Dee contacted him,” according to the police report, because his son – who is attending college in San Diego – had told him that he heard from a friend that a box of his possessions was found in a Home Depot parking lot. The owner of that unit also reported “various tools missing.”
