Tire thief busted by store owners
Coeur d'Alene police said the owners of a Coeur d'Alene tire store captured a man trying to steal from them on Tuesday.
Officers said they were called to a theft report at Best Tire on the 3000 block of North Government Way. When they arrived they saw the owners of the store had detained 40-year-old Mathew Afana.
The owners told police they learned Afana was stealing tires and selling them. When police served a search warrant at Afana's shop right down the street, they found $5000 worth of tires that had been taken from Best Tire.
Afana was charged with Possession of Stolen Property.
