The Coeur d'Alene Police Department has launched a new way to keep you in the loop in the case of an emergency.
The new community information service allows people to stay connected through web, e-mail and cell phones regarding public safety threats and any community event notifications. The service, created by Nixle, connects municipal agencies, community organizations and residents in real time.
To sign up you go to www.nixle.com. You have to give your phone number and e-mail address. To get text notifications you have to reply yes on your phone to sign up. You also give your address to get information specific to the area you live in.
