SPOKANE-- Running enthusiasts and supporters of breast cancer victims dawned their running shoes Sunday morning for The Race For The Cure.
About 9,000 people participated in this year's race, which included a 1K walk and a 5K run. The number of participants was about the same as last year.
Almost everyone racing wore pink in support of breast cancer awareness.
Organizers believe they came close or met their goal of raising $500,000 to go to research, education and treatment programs.
This year was the 6th year Spokane has hosted The Race For The Cure.
Among the thousands of participants, Senator Maria Cantwell and Spokane Mayor Mary Verner.
If you missed the race here in Spokane but want to participate in another Race For The Cure, Seattle's race is coming up on June, 5th.
