Voter registration deadline is Friday

Voter registration deadline is Friday

It might save you time during election day to make sure you’re registered to vote in Kootenai County by Friday, October 14th.

County clerk, Cliff Hayes, says a citizen can both register and vote on the same day at the elections office or at their polling place, but they’ll have to bring along required documents such as a photo identification card and proof of residency.

To avoid that hassle, citizens can complete their voter registration card and return it to the elections office by 5 p.m. on Friday. Completed registers will be added to the poll books.

Abstentee voters can vote in person starting Monday, October 17th through Friday including Saturday dates on the 22nd and 29th.

Local fire fighter union endorses fundraiser to improve residential address signs

The last thing you want in an emergency, is a street number that can’t be seen by emergency services. Take a look at your own address sign. Is it visible?

Adam Knight, Kootenai County Fire & Rescue lieutenant, says that many addresses are nearly impossible to see because of the location, size, and the lack of addresses on homes or driveways.

Local 2856 is hoping to change that by endorsing a fundraiser opportunity by Kevin Weber of Safety Street Inc. Weber will be traveling throughout the the district and selling high visibility address signs so emergency vehicles can locate your home efficiently.
