Advanced Dermatology is holding a Golf Tournament June 17th at the Coeur d'Alene Resort at 2pm to raise money for Stop The Burn Campaign.  It gets kids hats because schools can't give out sunblock because it's considered a medicine.  The Center of Disease Control ranks Washington and Idaho among the highest skin cancer rates in the United States.  For each golfer the Resort gives back $25 toward the Stop The Burn Campaign plus all sponsorships and raffle money.&nbs

Help Available For Idaho Homeowners Facing Foreclosure

The Idaho Housing and Finance Association is offering emergency loans to help people keep their homes and get back on their feet.

$13 million in federal money has been made available to the program. There are stipulations for loan applicants: Obviously, you have to be facing foreclosure, but you also have to be unemployed or have a medical condition that has resulted in the loss of at least 15 percent of your income.

The program helps homeowners make mortgage payments for up to 24 months with up to $50,000 in zero interest, forgivable loans.

Virginia Hemingway, the founder of Stop Torturing Our Pets, says Idaho is just one of three states that don't have felony penalties for the most extreme animal cruelty cases, nor for repeat offenders.

Early-Morning Standoff In Coeur d'Alene Ends

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office, Coeur d'Alene Police Department and Idaho State Police were in a standoff with a possible suicidal woman early Monday morning that ended without incident.

The standoff started sometime around 4:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of East Nedddleton Gulch Road on reports on two shots fired. Police shut down the portion of Neddleton Gulch between 17th Street and 15th Street, which is a major thoroughfare in Coeur d'Alene.

Rescue Crews Save Man at Fernan Lake

A 60-year old man was treated for non-life threatening injuries when his boat capsized at the east end of Fernan Lake this afternoon. The report came in at 12:25 p.m. that Patrick H. Hatfield from Coeur d'Alene was clinging to the boat and was not wearing a personal flotation device.
