Dalton Elementary Students Plant This Year's Pumpkins

Dozens of Dalton Elementary 1st graders had the opportunity to play in the dirt at the Roots Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) garden this morning. For the 2nd year in a row, students carried over their pumpkin seedlings, that they started from seed, a few blocks down the road from their school to the garden where they would plant them.

Instead of separate entities, it appears we'll be getting glommed together into one giant metropolitan area. The bureau plans to call us, Spokane-Coeur d'Alene.

Route of the Hiawatha Opens Saturday!

Pump up the bike tires and grab your helmet - one of the Inland Northwest's favorite trail rides, the Route of the Hiawatha, opens Saturday!

The June 11th opening actually marks a delay in the trail's typical season. The route usually opens from May to September, but the cool spring and heavy snowfall delayed the opening. Crews from Lookout Pass, which operates the trail, have been clearing the snow from the trailhead's highest peak to get ready for this weekend.

Helping Sick Children

Helping Sick Children

Credit Unions across Idaho raised money this month to help the Children's Miracle Network and a number of local hospitals care for sick children.

On June 3rd, the Idaho Credit Union League announced it raised $185,750 to donate to four children's hospitals in Idaho and Washington.

Nearly $34,000 was split between hospitals in Coeur d'Alene and Spokane.

In the past 16 years, the league has donated $2.25 million dollars to the Children's Miracle Network.
