Worley Man Sentenced For 2009 Fatal Crash

A 26-year-old Worley, Idaho man was sentenced to 36 months in federal prison for a drug and alcohol fueled car crash that killed the passenger in his car.

Joseph Michael Matt Jr., 26, pleaded guilty to the charge of involuntary manslaughter on November 22, 2010. He appeared late Tuesday before U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge in Coeur d'Alene to hear his sentence.

In addition to his prison sentence he must pay $5,707.66 in funeral expenses for the victim, William Davidson.

Washington State patrol troopers and inspectors checked nearly 12 hundred commercial vehicles during last week's three-day "RoadCheck 2011."

The patrol says they issued nearly 18 hundred tickets for violations, took 214 vehicles out of service for safety violations and removed 43 drivers from behind the wheel, mostly for record of duty violations.

One driver was arrested for drunken driving and two had suspended licenses.

Due to declining enrollment over the past several years, Group Health Cooperative plans to close its Coeur d’Alene Medical Center on Nov. 4, 2011.  

Though Group Health will close its medical center, the organization will continue to offer health plan coverage in Kootenai and Latah counties through Group Health Options, Inc.

kxly4 took home two Emmy statues at the 48th Northwest Regional Emmy Awards Saturday, including the award for Best Evening Newscast. The Emmy for Best Newscast is especially important, as kxly4 HD News @ 6 was nominated against Portland stations to bring home the trophy.
