Students To Build Lunar Rovers In Coeur d’Alene

Student teams from  Asotin, Clarkston, Lewiston, the Silver Valley, Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls high schools will get hands-on science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM, education this summer as they build a lunar rover.

The experience is made possible through a partnership between the University of Idaho-administered Silver Valley Upward Bound program, UB Math/Science and Discover Technology.

Alfalfa Sprouts Sicken 19

Kids in Idaho have an excuse not to eat their vegetables tonight.. at least some of them.

The Idaho State Public Health Department recommends not eating alfalfa sprouts from Evergreen Produce, a grower in Moyie Springs, Idaho. It's investigating 19 Salmonella cases in North Idaho, Eastern Washington, and Western Montana. Six of the people sickened report eating sprouts from Evergreen Produce. The Health Department warns people not to eat sprouts from Evergreen Produce and to get rid of any you might have in your refrigerator.

Lake City Playhouse has theatre camps for children ages 7-15 this summer.  Beginning July 11 you can help re-write a fairy tale during this skills camp entitled "Fractured Fairy Tales."  You'll build  props and costumes for princesses, kings, queens, knights and fire-breathing dragons.  This camp is a great introduction to all aspects of the theatre and runs from July 11-15 for 6 hours at the cost of $120.  Or perhaps you'd like to work in a 2-week production camp July 25-August 5 helping the little puppet with the long wooden nose "Pinocchio"?  This

Local "hams" will join thousands of Amateur Radio operators across North America who will show off their emergency capabilities this weekend.  June 25-26, you have a chance to meet and talk with local hams, and see for yourself what the Amateur Radio Service is all about.  The hams will demonstrate communications via voice, digital circuits, and Morse code.
