Honeysuckle Beach Closing for the Season Later this Month

Honeysuckle Beach opened late this year due to high waters and cold temperatures, and now it's almost time for it to close for the season later this month on August 29th. Boat launch fees will continue to be collected until Labor Day, September 5th. Earlier this year in April, the City of Hayden announced they would start collecting launch fees. Sean Hoisington, public works director, said they had revenue from the fees and would be using it for improvements on the boat launches' asphalt and concrete.

This weekend will be the second one for the North Idaho Flea Market at 2845 W. Seltice Way.  With fuel prices going up and fewer people driving around to garage sales this seems to be the best combination...bring your stuff down and rent a space and let the hundreds (hopeing for thousands) of people come and buy it. This concept does need both the sellers and the buyers, they now have food, produce and vendors but need more, to draw more.

All fire agencies in Kootenai County including Idaho Department of Lands are no longer issuing new burn permits due to recent dry weather conditions. They're waiting for sufficient and continuing wet weather in the area before they continue issuing permits. Dangerous fire conditions in the area merited the fire danger to increase to high on August 1st.
